The magpie, also known as "pica pica", is a species that belongs to the family of crows; its plumage is black and white. Magpies are about 45cm long and generally weigh between 200 and 250 g. there are about nine species of them.This bird feeds mainly on spiders, insects and fruit. The magpies build their nests and hatch in on trees.They lay from 4 to 8 eggs at a time. The parents take care of the eggs for 22-24 days, until the chicks are ready to fly.
