The cuckoo - Il cuculo

Its habitat is the forest because it is especially rich in wild and bright berries, but the cuckoo is suitable for every type of habitat.

The cuckoo exploits the nests of other bird species: the female lays an egg in each nest left by other birds. The chick once born will get rid of the other eggs to be the only one in the new nest. The adoptive parents bird will feed and take care of the chick as their baby for two or three weeks.

Usually it is the Crow that rears the eggs...

This is a cuckoo in captivity. The photograph is taken at the Assam State Zoo, India.
