DISTRIBUTION AND HABITAT:
The green woodpecker can be seen in the auras. It nests in all of Italy except in the larger islands.
FOOD AND NUTRITION: It feeds on insects and larvae hidden beneath the bark of tree trunks to capture due to its very sharp beak.
REPRODUCTION: It nests in holes dug trees from March to early summer. Lays from 5 to 7 eggs, bright white, and are brooded by the male for 2 weeks.
