The name Hoopoe derives from the Latin UPUPA, called like that also in Italian language.Hoopoes live in Europe, Asia, North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa and Madagascar.In winter Europen hoopoes emigrate to tropical areas. Hoopoe eats mostly insects, seeds and berries. It feeds on the ground.
